Who loves Instagram as much as I do? AWWW YEAAAAH!
It's amazing how it's connected us to the world, allowed us to build communities and enabled big time companies to have a two way communication with their audiences.
And I got to hand it to you Artrepreneur - you should treat it no differently.
Here's one very common problem I've seen henna artists and artrepreneurs in general make...
They treat Instagram like it's a one way street, but we forget that it's a social media app and the word "social" is in there.
So if you're still not getting booked or your shopping page still stands at a resounding ZERO DOLLARS or you're considering the idea of launching physical products to sell, then this one is for you.
I sat with Hafsa Taher from Hafsa Creates, a Toronto-based Creative Maker who sells her art on mugs, wall art, stationary and well you get the drift. Did I also mention that she's a business coach and helps you figure out how to use Instagram to the best of its ability so you can sell out of your products.
I mean, she would know out of all people, since she's sold out of her products over and over again and for that I was grateful that she shared her wisdom with us.
But here are some of Hafsa's top recommendations:
1) IDENTIFY WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO
One of the biggest mistakes a lot of small business owners make is not really understanding who you're talking to. How are you going to sell when you're not clear on who you're selling to?
2) BE INTENTIONAL WITH INSTAGRAM
Everything you post in your feed and story has to be met with intention. Pause for a second and think to yourself, how is this enriching my dream customer or client? Is this something that my ideal customer would like to see?
3) FOCUS ON ENGAGEMENT NOT FOLLOWERS
The number of followers you have does not matter as much as how engaged your current followers are. The more your followers are engaging and interacting with you, the more impressionable you and your business becomes on them - the more likely they will turn into customers. CHA-CHING!
4) BE PATIENT WITH THE CUSTOMER JOURNEY
The customer journey takes time. That's why it's very important for you to nurture the relationship. People don't just follow you and instantly decide to purchase from you. This is your opportunity to create a genuine relationship with them because when you foster that, the follower to customer journey reduces in length and will be quicker in reaching to their wallets to buy your products.

5) BE CONSISTENT
This isn't a race, it's a marathon and you're in it for the long haul. Successful businesses do not grow overnight, but they stick to their goals and plans over a long period of time. Consistency is one of the most guaranteed ways in building a strong foundation with your followers and potential customers.
